For years, many of us have struggled to find makeup products that complement our distinct skin tones. Whether you have porcelain, olive, brown, or dark chocolate skin, the challenge is often the same: how do we find products that meet our specific needs? But things are changing, slowly but steadily. In this blog, I'll go into detail about skin tone inclusivity and why it is so important and recommend brands and products that actually make a difference

In today's beauty industry, inclusivity is not just a trend, it is a movement. The rise of influencers who promote diversity in skin tone, abilities, and gender expression is reshaping the industry and making it more accessible to all. These influencers are not only makeup artists, but also strong advocates for under-represented communities. Whether they're showcasing a diverse range of foundation shades, creating tutorials for people with disabilities, or embracing non-binary beauty, they're demonstrating that makeup is for everyone.
Let's look at some of my favourite profiles of some influencers who are making a lasting impact in the beauty community.
1. Monica Ravichandaran
First up we have Monica Ravichandaran, As a South Indian girlie myself, Monica's content made me feel seen and it helped me understand colour theory and how it works with different skintones (there's a whole section about it coming soon). Monica has been posting brown girl friendly makeup tutorials since 2020, Her tutorials go beyond the basics, teaching us how to embrace our unique features. Monica knows what's going on, whether it's finding the perfect nude lipstick for deeper skin tones or highlighting techniques that work for warm undertones. Her honest product reviews and down-to-earth approach make her a favourite for anyone who's tired of feeling excluded from the mainstream beauty seen.
Golloria, a South Sudanese influencer who has emerged as a powerful voice in the beauty community, comes next. She isn't afraid to call out brands that claim to be "inclusive" but fall short in reality. With her keen eye for detail and unwavering commitment to representation, Golloria highlights the flaws that many brands overlook, pushing them to improve.
Her impactful advocacy has resulted in significant change, with several brands actively reformulating their products and expanding their shade ranges. Golloria's candid reviews and in-depth analysis appeal to many who have been frustrated by the beauty industry's slow progress. She uses her platform to hold brands accountable and demand that they change. We will be talking more about her content in another segment of this blog.
Olivia Ancell is a British influencer who represents people with pale skin tones. She is dedicated to assisting her followers in discovering the best beauty products for their specific needs. Olivia tests a variety of products, from foundations to bronzers, and provides honest reviews and swatches to help her audience choose the best options for their skin.
Her work encourages followers to embrace their natural beauty while also advocating for more inclusivity in the beauty industry. Olivia's influence encourages brands to recognise and cater to the needs of lighter skin tones, resulting in a more diverse beauty landscape.
There are so many more beauty influencers that make finding makeup products for everyone making it easy for everyone to find products that work for them.
